Have any of you ever made your own sunscreen? If so can you share your experience or formula? This was my 1st go at it and I used…

- Grass fed & finished Beef tallow

- organic zinc oxide

- organic coconut butter

- virgin coconut oil

- organic rosemary essential oil

I don’t really have measurements because I just read many DIY articles and then went with what ever I had available. But I did find this for SPF strength

1–5% zinc oxide: SPF 2–5

5–10% zinc oxide: SPF 6–11

10–15% zinc oxide: SPF 12–19

15–20% zinc oxide: SPF 20+

20–25% zinc oxide: SPF 30–35

Do you plan to test the effectiveness?

Kinda sounds tasty... 😅

If you take the sunscreen out (zinc) i bet it is tasty.

Well, it was for one of the girls I’m with, she got sunburnt last week. She used my mix and it worked, She did not get burnet today 😍

lol I for sure am not going to taste it 😅

That's great!

I would taste it before the zinc goes in. 😁

only reason to make zinc light blocking cream is if you are white and you spend so much time outside you get blistered nose

and you gotta slather it on thick

better to just wear a baseball cap... legionnaire's cap with the cape behind it if you have problems with burned neck as well

also, in both cases a broad brimmed hat works

cowboys wear broad brimmed caps for a reason - cos they outside in the sun all day chasing cows around and that's their damn jerb

zinc cream is only for lunatics at sub/tropical beaches who think it's awesome to sit outside for 7 hours a day

One of the girls is VERY white and her face, chest and shoulders got burnt pretty bad last week. So she asked me if I knew of a healthy sunscreen and I told her I can try to make one for her. I’ve known her for over 10 years and I can say I’ve NEVER seen her tan, she is always white or red lol so I think she is one that needs this cream.

That's got me curious what you did for the aftercare for the burn!

I love how you keep experimenting with these kinds of things tbh

😊☺️💜

I have and was going to again recently, but read this:

There are a few great clear zinc sunscreens in Australia (I picked up the Wotnot matt clear zinc yesterday).

Oh that’s an interesting article, thanks for sharing.
