I agree , it is nurtured in the corporate world. I've got opinions as to why.
Often companies support this nonsense , even if it is contrary to their bottom line: making money.
Disney are doing it , star wars , fucking Bud Lite ffs.
Why do you suppose that is ?
I think companies actually did see it as profitable to align themselves with 'social justice' movements, perhaps a bit of fear thrown in. I think it it mostly PR, even a fair amount on the left see it like this too tbf. I don't think there is any real commitment and they'll just move on to and adapt to whatever they think will sell more / keep them out of bad PR in future. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Because "virtue signalling" is compensation for darker aspects of a persons or organisations lives. You betcha half of the "wokies" have something very unpleasant in their baggage that they're hiding.
And corporations just tend to fuck their workers over any chance they get.
