My favourite #Amethyst crash is the one where all the relays suddenly drop off to 0

I discovered #plebstr and never going back. Though I only ever use it on the move, for home there is #coracle

Is plebstr an app or browser based? I've got kiwi (and spring) so open to suggestions - I use Coracle on the desktop too, but I end up getting nonstop permissions notifications

it's an android app.

The permissions notifications is from Alby if that's what you are using. I just "trust" the browser's isolation and log in with my nsec.

Does that mean it's one of these PWAs?

It is a PWA actually. The permissions requests likely have to do with your relay selection (a signature is required in order to authenyicate with certain relays)

Can I ask, is the nsec you enter in a PWA entirely separate from your normal browser? Or would it be possible to use the key stored in nos2x on kiwi to authenticate if it's downloaded via kiwi?

I believe it's separate, I'm not certain though.

I've been using these things this way since 2016 as it was how the steemit.com web app worked.

I have always kept up with the most secure browser that I am aware of, which currently is Brave. It blocks advertising which is usually where malware hides on websites, not usually on the apps themselves.

I use brave as well, though I'd like to move away from them because of the shitcoinery, but I can't get nos2x or albybto work on them - are you able to?

I'm running alby? It's just a heavily modified build of Chrome. Also you can right click on most of the shitcoin things and disable them. Someone should make an extension that automatically disables all shitcoinery.

I dunno what nos2x is - I suppose it is a crypto enclave or something?

Nos2x is just a key store browser extension so you can authorise Nostr events without handing over your nsec, same service albybalso offers - I can't get alby to work in Brave for some reason, that's why I went Kiwi/nos2x

Hm weird, I have no problem with alby here... Pop OS 22 - same as ubuntu 22, using the deb install. I'll zap you to demonstrate.

It may be you have some extension that interferes with it. probably nos2x maybe itself, no idea really.

tbh I'm not keen on anything involving keeping secrets on browsers, but unfortunately the bulk of UI devs work with browsers and the support for GUI on my preferred language is abysmal.

Zapped you back, ironically via Alby, kind of - I wanted an out from phoenix for sending so tried to use Alby on brave - the connect button never caused anything to happen, total block, so I downloaded Zeus, connected that to my alby acc and use that for zapping now, and nos2x on kiwi for web based nostr on mobile, because I didn't fancy keeping my nsec on Alby

It's quite a maze of half-implemented things as yet... I'm sure it will get better.

Yeah, the speed that things are moving is incredible

Does the default setting on the relays page not work for you to bring them back?

Nah, it just drops to 0/x and won't come back till I reset the app completely 😂

That's weird lol. I had that problem and someone suggested hitting the default option on the relay screen and it worked like a charm. Brought all my relays back. Sucks it didn't work for ya.

I didn't hit the default option as I had a couple of other relays on the list but when I had to reinstall the app I never added them again - I've found a couple that appear to be geographically local to me which I'm going to try and link to as well

I need to get myself a Raspberry Pi so I can run a node too

I want to get one to run at my mates, eventually I want enough environmental control in the boat that I can actually keep one in there
