I had a young male friend who developed schizophrenia. While it may be coincidence, he had recently become a heavy pot user and also a vegan (without much of a grip on the need to supplement). Smart and sweet guy doing a postdoc in physics.

At some point he lost it and thought people (including our friend group and his parents) were trying to poison him. He disappeared and stopped responding to calls/texts. We eventually learned through social media posts that he was living in his car.

He OD’d in a park in Berkeley earlier this year.
