Politics is the new religion

Humans need religion. We were cursed with a prefrontal cortex sophisticated enough to allow us to question our existence, but not sophisticated enough to allow us to grasp the nature of the universe.

A horrifying fate; seeing but not understanding.

We escape this by having faith in a higher purpose, or by drowning ourselves in things we can find meaningful here and now.

If we don’t give ourselves a sense of meaning we will fall into depression or be swept up in someone else’s demand for an immediate sense of meaning.
