My take on it is legal immigration is good. But, I also don’t think the American-first hiring practice is bad or racist. Not every American is a white male. So, the notion that wanting to have an American hire first over an immigrant is somehow racist is mind-boggling to me. In fact, Australia has this same approach and requires businesses who request residency visa for an immigrant to prove why an immigrant is more suitable for the job than a citizen of Australia. Seems fair to me to prioritize your own citizens. But some reason that’s racist for America 🤷
