Easy is subjective. We are freaks prepared to work through this shit, it is not helpful for onboarding when there's only client that can do in app zaps and the whole look at our massive ecosystem thing really falls down once you realise without a node the choice is two wallets... one of which doesn't work on an older but still perfectly working phone

OK, no node. Although don't dismiss it totally. Running your own node, especially for a business, is a must. IMO.

So first, have you tries nostr:nprofile1qqsrf5h4ya83jk8u6t9jgc76h6kalz3plp9vusjpm2ygqgalqhxgp9gpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqzyrhwden5te0dehhxarj9ekxzmnyqyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdaehgu3wvfskueq555fk2? #zeus wallet turns your phone into a node. You use their LSP (lightning service provider) by opening a channel to #Olympus. I believe it is also integrating bolt12 which would allow for a static address to receive payments.

Then there is #Muun wallet. Strictly not a lightning wallet as it uses submarine swaps to send on the lightning network. That is it is a normal btc wallet that you send from. It's not 100% effective but worth looking at.

Finally there is nostr:nprofile1qqsqcdcltmv4qanpx3p7svcufdsg9rkk00x7l2sknra4e6whkv59l7cppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qythwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnswf5k6ctv9ehx2ap0qywhwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnzd96xxmmfdejhytnnda3kjctv9uke3478. Now this is a web based app that you can use to swap on chain to lightning and vice versa. It isn't really what you are looking for but worth your time for all sorts of reasons.

In reality, the best solution is running your own node. It really is easy. Yes there can be an initial outlay but it doesn't have to be so expensive. You can buy plug and play nodes, go for #Start9 although I have an nostr:nprofile1qqsw5t3us9xs3gmclzjm37hvk2yy6pv9t96utjjttsj794hexc5x79qpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhs4njjxr still. I use a #RaspberryPi but an old mini PC will work and you can pick them up for £40!

Yes nodes! So easy. Especially since Alby hub, they even have POS software, I run all my jam sales to my own node and swap out with Boltz when necessary.

BUT nostriches? Why would a day-to-day zapping wallet need to be self custodied? it's overkill and a roadblock to new users

This is what I'm talking about, there is only Primal that has a seamless zapping experience due to the integrated wallet. Everything else needs NWC and for that there is only Minibits and Lifpay as custodial options. Mutiny has gone and Alby charge way too much to be considered at the onboarding stage. This is even worse on desktops, when I first joined I was literally scanning the screen with a phone for every zap... Norbert was worth it but soon got tiresome after that.

Looking forward to trying Zeus, my phone is 'old' and unsupported so I will have to get another one which pisses me off when hardware is physically still capable of running stuff but software stops being compatible.

Muun is a pile of crap that tricks people about it's lighting and self custody features

How long was your IBD on the Pi? mine took 3 weeks on a laptop without SSD

Inflammatory bowel disease, never had that on line!

Mine took 3 days but I hear now, much quicker.

As for on boarding new people, my take is do that on chain. Explain Bitcoin properly and introduce lightning later. Custodial options for me are a cplete no no. Don't trust, verify. How was Alby expensive? Did I miss something?

What Phone do you have, Nokia 3310!?

Oi read the thing, I'm only talking in context of onboarding nostr. ZAPS do not need onchain shit

I did read it. If you are talking about Nostr on boarding (not my field) surely the protocol is the selling point, not the zaps. Decentralised, uncensorable etc, etc...

As for zaps, I stand by what I wrote, Bitcoin is Bitcoin. Whether it's zapping, buying a jar of honey or sending the in laws money to overcome sanctions, non custodial all the way.

Tg used to have a tip not, prolly still does, that may be able to do something. Zeus is the answer if you don't have a node. Though you would still need to know about on chain txs so you could send to the wallet to open a channel with Olympus. After that you can set up your receiving address in Nostr with Zeus pay. As for sending, I would have to read up on it as I use a node with nwc.

Wow Gemstar, you make my brain hurt!
