Farcaster exemplifies the misplaced elitism of the DAO & ETH crowd that got groggy on the NFT craze, and which believed success is based on limiting supply (like in 10K PFPs). Farcaster 's founder Dan Romero is crowing about 10K users, whereas Nostr topped over 1M already. Whilst with Farcaster you need to jump through hoops to figure out how to score an invite, with Nostr EVERYONE can just get started. I have no idea how and if Farcaster works, but because of their limited go-to-market approach, we may never need to know since they will be taken over by truly open and decentralised social media protocols that have a built-in, instant-gratification reward mechanism. Zaps beat NFTs and other tokens in that regard. Same goes for the Lenster Protocol BTW.

Jacks Bluesky is invite only. I also believe some clients were too.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with testing the protocol and product before releasing it
I could see them doing this to make sure the product is polished as well as the image people project onto the protocol doesn’t doom it from the start.
I don’t know anything about farcaster really tho. I just watch the moment of zen podcast on Sundays and looked into Dan Romero.
