training the critters, and learning their rhythms isn't that hard but most people have groundhog day amnesia and every day do the same thing and wonder why the same stuff happens again.

Agreed. Older dogs. Both adopted too so the challenge is real.

just remember if it makes you mad, first, breathe in, breathe out, and then calmly go and make things go the right way, and go back to your business. the real key is persistence. none of them can be as pig headed as a man who has decided.
