In 1949, the communist regime arrested Hieromonk Visarion, the confessor of Lainici Monastery. He endured torture in prisons, remaining steadfast in his faith. Even when faced with starvation, he refused to renounce his beliefs. Miraculously, he survived a firing squad execution, only to be imprisoned again. He reposed in 1950 in Pitesti Prison, a place infamous for torturing Christians.
