Due to Stripe's popularity among developers and VC funded businesses, many software companies and marketplaces today use their services. This means if your account is unable to go through verification or if they cancel you out of the blue, you can no longer interact with said companies / marketplaces. For some people, those software companies and marketplaces are the only things that enable them to earn a living. So... essentially Stripe is able to cancel your livelihood. There would be NO way around it if you depended on those tools.

This is not ok.

They just randomly canceled one of my accounts

Decentralize the full stack.

A Bitcoin & nostr vertically integrated economy aka circular economy becomes unstoppable. This is how we win.

This is the way.

What is wrong with using a different merchants api and setup?

if you're not in control of the tools you use and what they integrate with you don't really have any options. For example, if you sell on a platform that only integrates with stripe, you're screwed

I suppose I was thinking like a developer. But yes, there’s a reason we all use Bitcoin lol. So fucking stupid how much control over our livelihood we relinquish to companies like stripe.

We need a neutral payment processor...

Some sort of digital asset that is fair, reliable, secure, and fast.

Someone should invent that.

I see the future … and it’s orange 🍊

And they KYC. KYC is the next rug.

Shoot. I thought you were saying Strike.

I agree. But for people who don't own any bitcoins, they pretty much have to buy from a KYC exchange.

Once you start to see it for what it is

One realises the status quo internet is a sequence of requests for permission

Digital monopolies & their overlords dictate everything
