Nostr is great as a technology. As a competitor to social media it’s kind of whatever, mostly because social media is still rooted in the shallow & binary nature of human engagement on digital platforms.
You’ll never really get past how that will always feel. It’s all too easy to forego human decency in favor of whatever caricaturization you’ll have of the individuals you engage with.
For example, if I make a criticism of White or Asian folks in the American tech industry, that gets met with some form of disgust, mostly because it drags in whatever previous social grievances have been established prior, from other spaces, rather than valuing the degree of intellectual integrity they may be found in such a criticism.
It’s a shallow characterization made of the individual in favor of algorithmic bias, perpetuating the same system that begets the criticism in the first place.
