I want to expose my service to the public securely.

Since I'm not a security expert, which way should I do reverse proxy through wireguard from VPS or just use Cloudflare?

I have no experience with wireguard. But if all it does was forwarding ports too, Then:

Yes. You still need reverse proxy for handling SSL and requests that sent into your VPS.
