✨ What is BRC-20?
BRC-20 is a fungible token created using Ordinals and Inscriptions on #bitcoin. It uses inscriptions of JSON data to deploy token contracts, mint tokens, and transfer tokens. BRC-20 token was created by domodata on March 8th, 2023.
Tokens aren't new to Bitcoin. Colored Coins launched in 2012, 3 years before Eth came out with ERC-20. The Bitcoin ecosystem has other ways to issue tokens: On the Liquid sidechain, you can use AMP, and on #Lightning L2 we have Taro, RGB, and the Hypercore based Pear Credit.
