1995 Tom's T020 MR2

The Tom's T020 MR2 is a special edition of the second-generation Toyota MR2 that was produced in limited numbers by Toyota in collaboration with Setagaya based Tom's Racing known for their racing cars in Le Mans, IMSA and JGTC.

Under the hood, the Tom's T020 MR2 was powered by a 2.2L stroked 3S-GE engine that produced 235 bhp at 6,800 rpm. This was achieved with stronger F3 cams, a stroker kit, an upgraded intake system labeled as "TOM'S Hyper Induction Carbon", and an improved exhaust system dubbed "TOM'S Barrel". A lightened flywheel was also included to enhance engine revs. The T020 received various upgrades such as camber kits, strut bars, roll center adjusters, stiffer springs, race shock absorbers, and sports brake pads, resulting in a more race-oriented suspension/chassis setup. These modifications, combined with the engine updates, allowed the T020 to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds. The T020 also had a sportier appearance due to changes like engine scoops, side skirts, Ferrari-inspired rear light grille, forged wheels, revised bumper designs, and a larger rear spoiler. It features a mid-engine layout that helps optimize weight distribution and handling.

The T020 was known as a refined version of the MR2, which is typical of any TOM'S outfitted vehicle. Due to its limited production numbers, the Tom's T020 MR2 is highly collectible among MR2 enthusiasts.

Authors note, finding pictures and reliable information was incredibly difficult and took hours. Apologize for the lack of #carporn in this post as not many photos exist on the web that I could find. #cars #carstr #carchain #grownostr
