It’s all short term fiat decision making. The traditional method buildings will last another 300 years. The fiat structures will be torn down in less than 50 years.

I completely agree, and think that the last structures made after the great financial crisis are starting to turn down already after 15/20 years.. insane!

The old buildings we see today are just a small fraction of those who were built. We cannot see all the crumbled building from the past.

A building will last if is done properly. And that takes knowledge and money.

Will you be likely to spend money to save an ugly building?

Certainly not. Im pro-vernacular arquitecture. It is hard to to ugly vernacular arquitecture.

I suspect that if one designs in local vernacular, and the building is beautiful builder architect did not skimp on a long term structural design.

If the building is ugly, this sends a message that it is not worth keeping for generations.

Might it follow that subconsciously (or not) the lack of beauty hints at no intent to keep the building long term, and non long-term structural decisions?
