Fully analog. The people who made those movies were artisans and it sucks because those skills are lost now. Nobody knows how to do those analog special effects anymore. It would probably take a very capable team a decade to re-figure all that stuff out.

Oh definitely. The first two alien movies for example. And prometheus and covenant. Way better in my opinion because the xenomorph is a tall skinny guy wearing a well made suit
Yes, agreed. In 2001 I couldn’t believe how good the apes looked even though they were guys in mechanical suits. But looks way more real and interesting than animations.

The Thing was so, so ahead of its time. I rewatch it like almost every year.
Yeah it’s a masterpiece. And something that won’t ever be recreated.
