As soon as the Monero community started talking about PoW + PoS, the price went up.
Too many vultures started circling Monero at the exact moment Pubic launched his attack, and began offering their "help".
We (Monero community) need to be very careful.
Those accounts are social engineers. Almost all of them new.
The current Monero dev generation sees a lot of die hard early Bitcoiners that make up Monero. Watered down a generation from now I could see this attack being successful if we can not pass on the knowledge of why POW is the best approach.
But maybe by then everybody has a fusion reactor in their basement and energy is not enough to back the chain?
