Funny.
I don't particularly recommend muting real people; who knows what they will say in your threads that you will never see. Furthermore, it's good to understand others who strongly disagree with you; you might learn something and evolve your point of view.
But plain old getting muted by individuals is much less of a worry to me than other supposedly "trust-based" filtering systems. These can easily cause diminished visibility of people who are not spammers at all, but who simply have controversial viewpoints.
