Him and his agents purposefully decided to go undrafted (he turned down the pistons at 42), knowing he could have been
in an nba lineup, but not as an immediate starter. They knew there’d be some demand but wanted to have some say in where he would land, get more favorable contract terms, and flip that into higher contracts earlier in his career than a drafted player could get. Pure chess moves.
