I love it! If you plan on going all out, you can get a much better deal on zigbee/zwave devices on aliexpress or the likes. They have freaking sensors for everything and with esp, you can make your own if they don't! Also, while you are at it, go down the node-red rabbit hole. AI does a great job of writing flows for you that you can tweak.
