Private keys, three pen-drives for $5 each and open-PGP fixes the need for a Trezor, Ledger or pretty much any other hardware wallet.

it's always a matter of convenience, so I'll leave this link here https://seedsigner.com
Hi! Does this solution accomplish same security levels? Would like to try alternatives as I’m not very happy lately with HW wallet manufacturers. Can you point to any HOWTO? Thanks!
It's the safest imo.
Years ago there was no hardware wallets and no seed phrases and everyone was backing up private keys. Either on heat resistant cold storage metal cards or in a simple txt file encrypted with pgp and thrown on 3 (or more pen-drives. Where you store them is oc up to you.
There is many non-electronical solutions out there from crypto tubes to metal cards, dog tags. At the end of the day it's just private keys so you can store them in many ways. safely.
All I can say is that I've never lost a key and I never had a signing device compromised in +10 years and I never had an electronic device produced by a 3rd party
What’s about the point in time when you generate your key-pair?
You do that from a BTC wallet which is connected to internet, don’t you?
Not sure if I don’t understand completely the process, but I think this was one of the selling points for HW wallets.
