I was taught to not questions my elders… conditioning me to believe they were wiser than me and an authority to be followed. What a terrible thing to teach kids.

I was constantly told to be quiet.
That shit leaves an imprint.
I sometimes wonder what I've unknowingly imprinted onto my kids.
At parents right now and can see the language I was brought up on - yes lots of imprints
I'm 41, and they still tell me this and I tell them, go fuck yourself.

This is why I tell every one of my friend’s kids to question everyone. Especially those in apparent authority. I couldn’t stand that it wasn’t acceptable to ask questions growing up. I was just told to be quiet and because “I/we said so”
Yeah that’s such truthful advice - not questioning authority is such a huge recipe for abuse
