📩 Put cash in envelopes for monthly expenses:
Ex: (obv, adjust amounts and categories to your situation)
*Food*
One month of groceries:
4 envelopes each with $300 (assume you shop once a week)
Groceries subtotal: $1,200
Eat out
4 envelopes each with $75 (assume you eat dinner out once a week)
Eat out subtotal: $300
Food Total: $1,500
*Housing*
Rent/mortgage:
1 envelope with $1,800
Rent subtotal: $1,800
Utilities:
1 envelope with $50 for trash
1 envelope with $50 for nat gas
1 envelope with $100 for electric
Utilities subtotal: $200
Housing total: $2,000
*Transportation*
Fuel
4 envelopes each with $80 (assuming one tank per week)
Fuel subtotal: $320
Car insurance
1 envelope with $240
Car insurance subtotal: $240
Maintenance/repair/service
1 envelope with $50
Transportation total: $610
Essentials monthly total: $4,110
Note: Each category should have one additional envelope that you put unused funds into as petty cash emergency funds for each category
