Interesting, I knew this was inefficient, but I didn't realise it was this bad. Try to give the benefit of the doubt but I guess ol' Stan was a con man.

If he was a conman they wouldn't have murdered him

Stanley Meyer claimed that his water fuel cell could split water into its component elements, hydrogen and oxygen, using less energy than conventional science predicted or measured. The hydrogen gas was then burned to generate energy, a process that reconstituted the water molecules ¹. However, Meyer's claims about his "Water Fuel Cell" and the car that it powered were found to be fraudulent by an Ohio court in 1996 ¹. If the device worked as specified, it would violate both the first and second laws of thermodynamics, allowing operation as a perpetual motion machine ¹.
