three young dual income families i know looking to buy a house in an urban area (top 10 US city) have all thrown in the towel after trying for 1.5 years and are continuing to rent.

first it was buying price then it was mortgage rates then it was a combination of both in a good neighborhood for their children.

two of the three moved out of their current rental to a much smaller because rent increases were excessive

a mortgage broker i know has fired 3/4 of his staff since no one is originating new loans

sellers in my neighborhood are delisting and delisting to avoid stigma of having a house that won't sell.

things are really bad in the housing market.
