This looks promising, my only complaint is it's wired. Might buy my first new headset in 7 years...

My index just broke. Specifically, the wire the connects the headset to everything else
Whyyy is that $120+ to replace lmaooo I refuse
The controllers were the best part about it anyway
The controllers are great and work with other headsets. Mine did wear out and I had to buy a second pair. I think there are a lot of good things about the Index headset itself, but it is definitely dated. I like the speaker/headphones.
Ready player one!
I had happen to have ordered the bsb1 at just the right time. They held my order back to give me a free upgrade!
As for it being wired, is the wireless technology there yet for transferring high res imagery in realtime? I know some solutions for other lower res headsets just barely made it work but with novel protocols.
Been using Vive Pro wireless for 7 years and couldn't tell a quality difference. Just annoying when sometimes it screws up and everything goes black.
I had the Vive wireless adapter and was really impressed at how good it worked. It used WiGig though, which had its own quirks. I assume the Pro used the same?
The BSB has significantly higher resolution requirements. I wonder what tech could support the bandwidth. From what I hear, the compression-decompression is a big challenge. Maybe it would require adding too much compute to such a small form factor.
