Sorry that's Minnesota's state bird, Maine can't have it.

LOL - well the clear runners up would have to be midgies/no-see-ums or horseflies...I mean, at least we have options

Florida has more and bigger mosquitos than Maine. In the summer I could sit out by the lake and hear what sounded like a 747 coming, but it was a giant swarm of mosquitos that would come and you would have to cover your mouth and nose to keep from breathing them. Luckily the biggest swarms were what we called blind mosquitos that are white/cream and don't bite, but we could get similar swarms of the normal biting mosquitos, some of which were enormous, especially in South Florida where they don't get cold so can grow all year.
