This is a good example of how everything is connected.
I am not sure there is much an individual can do about it at the farm level as a whole, though there are probably specific ways each farm can adapt.
It is not something I really worry about here. We dry farm, and any water that is irrigated around us is first-use water.
There are no farms upstream, so we are not dealing with runoff or discharge.
If you are downstream from a lot of farms, that is almost impossible to avoid.
Water tends to pick up more and more junk the closer it gets to the ocean.
