That's right, read the thread.

Top lists on social media are a flawed concept anyway. They're not only open to manipulation, as in this case. Besides, they only reinforce the posts that are already popular anyway.

In addition, there is the misconception that popularity, measured by demographic preferences, is a measure of quality. It's not.

It's only the average of the comprehension of the respective population, in some respects even the intellectual lowest common denominator, if you will. No wonder that mostly stupid, unsubstantial, simple sayings and meat trends.

However, it's not conducive to discover good content, as some believe. Such lists reward mediocrity, not quality.
