OK, I can think of many I would prefer to Neil Young, but why Terry Jacks? beyond his one hit, not sure what you're evaluating?
It’s subjective, but I feel like mr. Jacks is a man who has emotional intelligence and maturity of a higher degree than mr. Young.
I can appreciate that. And unlike most of Nostr, I had heard of Mr. Jacks prior to today, both the man and the music, although I admit to doing a brief fact check for myself in Wikipedia. It just seemed a surprising choice for comparison.
The contrast occurred to me today, learning that Jacks took a multi decade hiatus to raise a family and pursue other passions, whereas Neil Young seems to have stagnated and become a dry curmudgeon with only a long discography to show for it. See his recent interview with Conan for example, quite cringey). I used to be a Young fan (e.g. Sleeps with Angels, Greendale, Mirrorball), but not quite anymore.

Thanks, I’ll give TTH a good listen. I remember learning the band’s name at age 10 in ‘93, when the new teacher who I thought was so cool mentioned it as being a favorite band of hers. In Bruges, Belgium. How small the world can be sometimes.
