Money doesn't magically fail. People are smart and self-interested, so they always find a way to create money out of thin air or for cheap. That's what makes money fail, and whole empires and civilizations crumble because of it. That's why #Bitcoin is so important.
It always strikes me that Joseph is a hero in the story, but his actions led to the enslavement of his people.
