How this busineess case works? I would undersrand to stream sats from me to the producer of that podcast as a reward for his creativity, but earn just by listening? Sounds similar to play2earn…

Why are you getting paid on Fountain?

Every minute that you spend consuming content, creating content, or watching ads, increases the value of the platform you’re using. Think about the ones you use every day. Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok - all of these platforms would lose their value without the time and attention that you give them, but none of them reward you for it. Fountain is different. Fountain is the only podcast app where both listeners and podcasters get rewarded for the value they bring to the platform.

+ I read in their terms they keep 4% above the streaming contributions , those they probably use for rewards after.

I am really not sure, if I create any value by listening a podcast. The only exception is if the podcaster wants to motivate me and is willing to pay me for that, but I don’t think it’s frequent (may be some politics will use this feature in the future:-). The money for that are taken from the rewards that listeners are willing to pay to podcasters for the content they really appreciate to motivate podcasters to produce more - real value4value usecase. But that also means that podcasters will earn less…

I understand the idea that rewarding the listeners may motivate them to join the platform and the hope they will switch to supporters in time. But I am skeptical the second part of the sentence works. We should not support the idea that my time i have spent on something without creating any value has the value an so I'm due a reward.

But anyway, it’s a decision of Fountain app creators…

Note, the 4% for foundation app is above the reward for producers.

I think the rewards for normal listening are just now for the beginning, later they will be reduced, or active only for new users. Other users will have rewards only when paying premium, listening promotions or so.

It is quite usual for new products /services
