I have zapped you. Was that fake?
Individual users can’t fake zaps. Zaps are sent by zappers (usually alby, lightning nodes, wallet of satoshi, etc). They can fake zaps if they want to. They don’t because people would treat them as non-trustworthy and people would switch away from them.
Zaps are just receipts from lightning nodes that a payment was received. You could create software the sends out fake zaps for any amount. The transaction might have not have actually occurred.
The thing you can’t fake is the zap request, this is the note that users create to signal they want to zap a particular note or profile.
