Yeah this is why there was a discussion earlier. If people could guess a number between 000 and 999, some would have an advantage over another if the numbers would be out in the open.

There was a discussion but not related to the "digits vs. character" thing. It was about the predictions being public. Having a search space between 000 and 999 or 000 and FFF makes no difference in that context. We resolved this by having the participants resubmit guesses via DMs to me, so we got rid of this issue. We considered them.
