I agree that we have the technical means to fix many problems, however our genetic programming still creates a sense of tribal cohesion. This leads to an us vs them environment where we can't get along.

Moving forward we will live in a post scarcity society brought on by automation and ai, however this will lead to a lack of purpose. Lack of purpose leads to suicide. This was explored in the book "brave new world"

Through genetic and mechanical augmentation of humans, we will evolve into what we will be to explore space in a meaningful way.

The trick will be to get past the great filter. If we could upload our collective minds into a virtual environment, we would have no need to explore further. What do you think the future holds?
