Why do you think things changed after the 80s? was it due to the collapse of steel industry, or the rise of poverty among large groups of middle class esp white working Americans as a ripple effect, or a concept switch between the democrats and republicans? Is there a particular reason for hating literates? I'm amused at how everything is left and right in the US but I am also really curious on what was the root and trigger factors of this - Is this as extreme as book burners in Russia and China? Would they tell their kids not to read? Its an interesting experience.
