It’s ether 1. a way to say “oh sorry guy’s, we can’t participate in WW3 because we have aliens in our backyard
Or option 2. they “protect” the citizens by enforcing martial law and then draft everyone for WW3
Or 3. (most plausible) just try to portray the still all mighty superpower to it’s own citizens with the undisclosed hint of “we might have super weapons”, but this is laughable at best on a geopolitical level

sounds plausible BUT the 3D♟️ move would be: 1. Launch drones 2. Wait for media speculation 3. Drizzle in “whistle blower” info orchestrated by deep state 4. Let panic arise 5. Come in as the savior by scraping even more freedom in the name of protection
