The only solution is a mystical being?? How about recognizing the humanity in each other and doing unto others as we would want them to do to us?

Pretty sure the Lord has been invoked throughout history for untold atrocities.

Gonna be a no from me dawg

I'm pretty sure logic and reason have been invoked for the same reason and with pretty poor results.

People will do people things and blame others when the outcome isn't what they thought it would be....

Logic and reason, in a Christian worldview, come from God. Faith and Science are not in opposition. The problem, as you point to, is that humans are fallible. Only with a true North, what I am calling a Christian worldview, will a government put the common good ahead of power. Without a Christian world view, it’s power only and what we have now, all over the world.

Yes! Let us recognize the humanity in each other and do unto others as we would have them do unto us! This is the way!

I am not arguing with you. I agree. Many horrible atrocities have been committed in the name of the Lord and of religion. .

In my view, again not arguing, many wonderful things have been done in the name of the Lord by those who followed His instructions to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. Those atrocities would be in direct contradiction to those instructions. Additionally, it has been revealed from the beginning that we are made in God’s image and likeness so, as you indicate, our common humanity binds us together and makes those atrocities wrong.

The evil we are seeing in society is from those who do not respect our common humanity and the golden rule.

We may not agree on the ultimate source of Goodness, but we agree on the same Goodness as essential to the solution.

Finally, a Christian worldview includes the freedom of each individual to choose to practice or not practice a religion, so non-believers are safe with a leadership that truly lives Christian values. Christian values require virtue and protecting the common good.
