Best practice is you will want to segregate your Bitcoin and Lightning stuff from other functions.

You potentially leave an attack vector where someone may be able to gain access to your machine via software bug or other means.

This gets compounded with each software or use you add.

Better to separate out the roles.

What if the only other thing I use it for is to use my signing device with sparrow wallet?

Could I leave windows os running or safer to go with Linux

Lots of opinions on the windows vs Linux debate.

I personally run mine on a Linux box secured.

I use sparrow on my laptop and connect to my btc node over the network to send transactions out and read in updates.

You have to trust sparrow doesn’t have any vulnerabilities on it.

You also have to consider your risk tolerance. If you are stacking for cold storage a significant amount you probably don’t want to run other things there.

Just my 2 sats.
