if nothing in the bitcoin protocol changes, in the future only ultra wealthy computer nerds and banks will be able to own any coins and almost nobody will have control over their own funds. scaling will be done via custodians only. custodians will print more IOUs than they are supposed to and the peg will break. and there's not much time left to find consensus on any change. I don't think it will happen.

That's the pourpouse of Bitcoin nowadays, devs and big names of community are pushing that way

what gets me is this is the same exact thing that has ever happened to every commodity money. and they're not going to do anything to prevent it this time even though this is the first time they can.
