i was born in Hollywood. I grew up around well known actors, musicians, and producers. My father was a successful studio and touring musician, who played with some of the most well known musicians of the time. Right before i became a teenager, he left all of it, we moved to rural Washington State, he got a job working for a hardware company, and started leading worship at a tiny community church. We grew much of our own food, cut and split our firewood, made alot of what we used, and i worked construction during summers, for a radical Christian ex-con who spent 12 years in McNeil Island prison for violent crimes.

I used to resent that my Dad left that “successful” Hollywood life. Now, I respect him more than words can possibly express for what he did. And I have a real life because of it.

Just felt like sharing.

That was probably a very difficult decision for your dad to make but ultimately probably the right one. It was also probably very difficult for you at that age, leaving friends for the unknown. Often, the difficult decisions are the right decisions. An added bonus is that the PNW is beautiful country.🤙
