Not going to speak for him about his situation, but I'll try and ascribe it to mine with good intentions.
Without the use of 'low-value', could it be that my love falls short? Can't make an argument beyond a subjective one there, but question if it has something to do with not growing up embedded in a community with strong values. Only recently learning and understand their structures and purposes. Some wistfulness to have grown up in that environment and cultivating those values, but I do think I've passed over that window of time where it could have made a bigger impact on me.
