I can only hope that it starts waking more people up so some good comes out of these tragedies. Long-term, the best solution to reducing political violence is to dramatically reduce or eliminate the state. The nature of the state is violence and when people are able to wield the state’s violence against each other incredible amounts of strife, and in extreme cases, violence, manifest. We need to strive for a more peaceful society, based on the principles of non-aggression.
