Good point. You should NEVER use your ISP provided router. Not only are the rental fees usually insane, you're leaking insane levels of metadata having your entire LAN being sent to your ISP. Not to mention the WiFi motion detection "feature" many are now implementing.

I'd recommend only a FOSS router like the OpenWRT One, or any router you can flash OpenWRT on. If you or anybody else can't verify the software you're using, it's spying on you. This assumption must be made for proper OPSEC.
