Isn't that a long time away and don't we still need something for the mechanisms explained in the article. Don't get me wrong, I love on-chain and all the benefits of it, but we should build scaling products to enable even more use cases

I wouldn't bet money that it is that long away. The compounding nature of Moores Law is mind blowing.
Everyone seems so interested in scaling #bitcoin to fit humanity when they really should be scaling humanity to fit #bitcoin. I suspect no one has really taken the time to imagine what life in a deflationary world would be lile. It seems to me everyone thinks there will still be a starbucks on every corner in that type of world
