I love the Mk2 Golfs, shame any Mk2 in decent nick is pricey these days, they're collector's items like the old Minis.

I had a 5 speed mk4 Jetta and it was the best vehicle I’ve ever owned by far. Drove it so hard and it never quit and never missed a start even over 300k miles. Got 40+ mpg too. Helped me stack so many Sats

That's what I love to hear, solid reliable economical cars, humble and indeed helps you stack sats! Grabbing a Golf for a few grand for the same reason.

I'm gonna try get a GTI if it fits within my budget. I want something fun before the state taxes ICE cars to death.

Prefer to stay away from the diesels myself hence not looking at a TDI.
