My relay has an insane latency atm based on nostr.watch results. I'm turning it off to upgrade to more vCPUs hoping that can improve performance a bit. Any relay operators out there that can recommend any actions to get the latency down?

want to run also one. What for resources do you suggest?

#[1] has a nice tutorial here: https://andreneves.xyz/p/set-up-a-nostr-relay-server-in-under

I've seen a couple other good resources as well but can't find them anymore..

no, I mean vps - ram cpu disk?

oh lol, I'm not sure tbh. I have been running mine on a Digital Ocean VPS with 2 gb ram, 1 vCPU and 25 gb ssd until now. Now I'm upgrading to 2vCPUs because it seems like a lot of people are using my relay.

So it depends if you plan to have yours public for everyone or just for yourself.

I’m one of those users 😀

Awesome! Bring on the world, I'll supersize that VPS to the moon if I have to.

Haha, great! 💪

want to contribute, will take stronger vps or maybe a dedic bought the nostr.bg domain for this purpose

Awesome, #[2] and Zebedee are hosting some beefy relays. Maybe you could get some numbers from them?

#[2] has awesome tutorials. Listened to the one on Lightning after he recommended it at bitdevs. You guys all rock and any tutorials for us non technically skilled are appreciated.

Which relay implementation?

Did you upgrade to the latest? It really helped jb55’s relay performance. New updates from 12 hours or less ago.

I upgraded to 0.7.10 yesterday but I see that 0.7.11 is available now. I'll try to upgrade to that as well then.

Yep. That’s the one with extra performance commits.

What are your current resources? Trying to figure out the load on the relays

what latencies are you seeing?

my tiny relay is holding up decently but I’ll prob need to upgrade the machine soon

Minimum seen today was 3500ms, max was 13000ms

I’m kinda afraid to make mine public yet.

My relay is reporting using 0.005 CPU and 248MiB with an uptime of 17h. Despite all that, it now seems that there's a ~3000ms delay opening a connection.
