Whenever I hear the "strong men create easy times / easy times create..." quote I think, "there's someone who's sympathetic to dictatorship."

An astounding number of people (mostly men) who see themselves, rightly or wrongly, as self-made and independent, will assume that those qualities are exactly what a Nation needs in a ruler.

But States fail for the same reasons they'll always fail, whether they're led by Bukele-style strongmen or EU-style committee. If anything dictatorships fail faster because the information asymmetry is greater.
