Was talking to an architect, and he told me he likes to design houses so that each room is like a portal into a totally different space.

Made me think of the sci-fi novel Hyperion where one of the characters (far into the future) has a house where the doors between each room are portals to different parts of the galaxy.

If we were to do this on earth, for example, you might be sitting on your deck in Malibu, walk inside, and youโ€™re in your bedroom in the Rockies, and your living room might be overlooking Central Park.

Would be amazing to live in such a house, but maybe it can be done via design where you teleport to a different mental space instead.

I love this concept; probably because I'm a lifelong SciFi fan and since my youth I've imagined radical architectures to relieve the boredom of conventional, boxy, unimaginative living spaces...๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I like cave-like spaces, rooms that bud off a large, central cavity, and turn corners for privacy...Womb-like rooms with gently curving floors and deep, padded, shag carpet to recline in...

Where topologically simple flying arch walkways cross the huge central, multi-story space. Riffing off your post, we could have sprayed-on oled display walls in different rooms to "transport" us to different locations, at least visually... And make the mountain rooms noticeably cooler, and with random breezes and small streams and waterfalls...

I could go on...๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜
